# Sourcing and AI drafting

An AI model wrote the first drafts of this site's text, and readers are owed that fact. Within the EU, that notice is mandatory under Article 50 of the AI rulebook, Regulation 2024/1689.

## What the model does and doesn't do

The model writes and edits the explanations from the cited sources, and each draft is checked sentence by sentence against them; no human editor approves the wording before publication. The calculators are fixed code with no model inside: the same entries always give the same result.

## Which sources come first

Regulators and the law: the NAIC homeowners report, FEMA and GAO material on flood insurance, the Florida Statutes, the Florida Department of Financial Services and the inspection rules Citizens publishes. Abroad, insurers' associations and statistics offices such as the ABI, France Assureurs, GDV and Ireland's CSO. Commercial quote surveys and comparison sites supply only the size of individual pricing factors and, for three countries, a labeled average; their pages are linked once, from the sources page, and nowhere else.

## Checking before publication

Each figure is compared with its source and the reading date is printed on the page. The calculators are run against worked examples kept with the site's code, including the edge cases: the $10,000 grant cap, the $700,000 grant limit, the 18% flood increase limit, the 15-year roof rule and the $200 floor below which a quote gets no verdict.

## Independence

No insurer, agent, inspector, roofer or window maker pays to be mentioned or sees a page before it appears.
